Curation Philosophy
In the rapidly evolving field of metabolic medicine, staying at the absolute frontier of research is a clinical necessity. I originally developed this surveillance system to ensure I could provide my own patients with the most current, evidence-based, and personalized care.
By leveraging AI to monitor global clinical data, I hope to bridge the gap between high-level research and bedside reality. I believe this knowledge should not stay behind the walls of medical journals. Obesity.sg is my way of sharing these insights with the public—stripping away misinformation to raise awareness about the science of obesity and the highly effective treatments now available to manage it.

Dr. Baldwin Yeung is a Senior Consultant and the Head of Upper Gastrointestinal and Metabolic Surgery at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH), Singapore. He also serves as the Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery at SKH and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer at NUS YLL School of Medicine. He is an executive council member of the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS) and National Fellow of the World Obesity Federation.
Scope of Practice
Dr. Yeung underwent specialist training in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. He maintains an active and extensive practice in General Surgery, Advanced Endoscopy and Advanced Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. While his practice is broad, he has developed specific clinical interests in minimally invasive therapeutic options:
• Bariatric Endoscopy: Utilizing advanced endoscopic techniques for weight management, including Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) and intragastric balloons.
• Revisional Bariatric Surgery: Specialist management and surgical correction of previous weight-loss procedures.
• Primary Metabolic Surgery: Laparoscopic gastric sleeve and bypass procedures tailored to individual patient needs.
• General and Advanced Upper GI Surgery: Comprehensive management of complex hernias, gallstones, and disorders of the stomach and esophagus, including cancer and anti-reflux surgery.

After graduating from the University of Glasgow, she spent her formative years training across various medical specialties in the United Kingdom before returning to Singapore to serve as a Senior Family Physician.
